Breve presentazione dell’incontro di Torino

Al termine dell’ultimo campeggio in Romania, dovendo scegliere tra un paio di proposte, l’assemblea ha deciso di organizzare l’incontro successivo in Italia. Reclaim the Fields non è mai approdata in Italia, perciò potrebbe essere un’ottima opportunità per incontrare altre persone che condividono gli stessi interessi della costellazione; inoltre a Rosia Montana molte persone hanno espresso il desiderio di collegare le attività di RtF ad alcune delle lotte in corso contro grandi progetti quali aeroporti, miniere, gasdotti... Vicino a Torino esiste una lotta forte e ben radicata contro la costruzione di una linea ferroviaria ad alta velocità che dovrebbe attraversare le Alpi e collegare Torino e Lione, il movimento NO TAV della Val Susa.

Il luogo che ospiterà l’iniziativa è il Mezcal Squat. La struttura faceva parte dell’ex Ospedale psichiatrico di Collegno, situato nel Parco della Certosa Reale, nella prima cintura di Torino e in direzione della Val Susa. L’edificio è stato occupato nel 2006 da un gruppo di persone di ispirazione anarchica che aveva maturato la sua pratica in varie occupazioni nella realtà torinese. I loro obiettivi erano di formare uno spazio libero finalizzato a ogni tipo di attività creativa ludica e politica, rivoluzionando così la propria vita quotidiana attraverso la pratica dell’autogestione e dell’autocostruzione. Il gruppo ha trasformato, così, la struttura manicomiale autocostruendo, dal nulla, ambienti creativi liberi come un’officina, laboratori per il vetro e il legno, una palestra, una sala prove e una sala concerti, oltre ad altri spazi sociali: per esempio, si è appena ultimata la costruzione di un forno per il pane e si è appena inaugurato un orto collettivo che necessita solo di nuova energia perché diventi fruttifero. Nelle attività organizzate si cerca di sperimentare l’eliminazione del denaro attraverso la condivisione. Una di queste iniziative è la cena “bellavita” del mercoledì in cui ognuno porta qualcosa per realizzare la serata.

L’assemblea verrà organizzata da persone sia di Torino sia provenienti dalle campagne e montagne circostanti (e forse da altre città), con l’aiuto di Nautilus, un collettivo che da 30 anni gravita attorno alla scena delle occupazioni e delle autoproduzioni (soprattutto libri senza copyright, ma non solo), sostenendo e creando autogestione al di fuori e contro lo Stato e l’economia. Durante questi dieci giorni cercheremo di creare una situazione confortevole per compagni e compagne che arriveranno da lontano, garantendo posti letto caldi e cibo; al tempo stesso invitiamo i partecipanti a contribuire nella maniera che possono. Per una migliore organizzazione è importante comunicarci il numero di persone che pensano di venire, per quanto tempo rimarranno (ad esempio, se vengono per l’iniziativa di Reclaim the Seeds oppure la settimana dopo), se hanno bisogni o desideri particolari.

La nostra idea è quella di contattare differenti individui e situazioni tra quelle che conosciamo, invitandole allo Scambio dei Semi che viene organizzato ogni anno al Mezcal (quest’anno sarà l’ultimo weekend di febbraio) e alle altre iniziative che organizzeremo. Sarà l’occasione per scambiarsi esperienze e idee, per incrociare i percorsi tra chi ha scelto di abbandonare le città cercando di produrre con l’obiettivo dell’autosufficienza e gli orticoltori urbani che in questi ultimi anni hanno curato alcuni orti collettivi qui a Torino.
Per finire, come accennato prima, “introdurremo” RtF in Valsusa: sicuramente organizzeremo una serata in valle per incontrare il movimento NO TAV, mentre il resto verrà deciso sul posto dall’assemblea. Cercar di descrivere questa lotta, la sua storia e la situazione attuale, è difficile se non impossibile, e purtroppo non esiste molto materiale tradotto in altre lingue. Quel che possiamo dire è che ci troviamo in una fase cruciale: dopo vent’anni di lotta che hanno impedito l’inizio dei lavori (a dire il vero, nemmeno i lavori preliminari di sondaggio sono incominciati) lo Stato, con l’impiego di unità di polizia antisommossa e dell’esercito, ha conquistato un pezzetto di valle in cui dovrebbero cominciare i lavori per il tunnel sotto le Alpi (lungo più di 50 km), quindi è possibile che durante l’incontro di RtF la situazione sarà calda.

A short presentation of Turin’s gathering

By the end of the last camp in Romania, in choosing between a couple of proposals, the assembly decided to organize the next meeting in Italy. Reclaim the Fields never reached this country, so it could be a good opportunity to meet others sharing in the same interests of the constellation. Moreover, in Rosia Montana lots of people expressed their desire to link the activities of RtF to some of the struggles against large projects such as airports, mines, pipelines... Nearby Turin, there is a strong and well rooted struggle against the construction of the high speed rail line across the Alps from Turin to Lyon, France (the NO TAV movement of the Susa valley).

The place hosting the assembly will be Mezcal squat, a huge building once part of the psychiatric hospital complex within the Certosa Reale Park of Collegno, in the suburbs of Turin (on the way to the Susa valley). It was occupied in the Summer of 2006 by a group of young anarchists who had previously matured experiences in several other occupations in and around Turin. Their goal was to establish a free space, finalised to any type of creative activity and political action, thus revolutioning their own daily life through the practice of self-management and self-building. The group has transformed the psychiatric facility, building from scratch free creative environments, such as a mechanical workshop, woodworking and glassmaking workshops, a gym, a rehearsal space for bands and a concert hall, as well as other common spaces. Recent instances include the construction of an indoor oven for baking bread and a communal garden, just awaiting fresh energies in order to bear fruit. For the organised activities people experiment with the elimination of money, through communal sharing. Every Wednesday evening, for instance, the squat hosts a dinner in which everyone brings something and all is shared.

The assembly will be organized by people from Turin, as well as from the mountains and countryside nearby (perhaps from other cities as well), with the help of Nautilus, a 30 years-old collective gravitating around the occupations and d.i.y. scene (mostly, but not only, no copyright books), supporting and creating self-management outside and against the State and the economy. During these 10 days we will try to create a cosy situation for the comrades coming from far away, providing warm places to sleep and food; at the same time we invite the participants to contribute in any way they can. For a better organization it is important to let us know how many people are coming, how long they will stay (for example, arriving for Reclaim the Seeds assembly, or the week later), whether they have specific needs or desires.

Our idea is to contact the different situations and individuals we know, inviting them to the Seed Swap organized every February by and at Mezcal (this will take place during the last weekend of February) and to the other events that will be organized. It will be an opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas, to cross paths with those who have chosen to abandon the cities, trying to produce for self-sufficiency and the city gardeners that in these last few years cultivated some community gardens in Turin.

At the end, as mentioned above, we will “introduce” RtF to the Susa valley; we will definitely organize an evening to meet the NO TAV movement in the valley: the rest will be decided on the spot by the assembly. Trying to describe this struggle, its history and the present situation in this brief text is very complex, if not impossible, and unfortunately there isn’t much written material available in other languages. What we can say is that this is a crucial moment: after 20 years of struggle which have prevented the start of the construction works (to tell the truth, the preliminary works haven’t started yet), the State, using riot police and army units, has conquered a piece of the valley where the first part of the main tunnel under the Alps (over 50 kms long) is supposed to start, so it’s possible that during the gathering of RtF, the situation will be hot.

Kurze Vorstellung des Treffens in Turin

Zum Abschluss des letzten Camps in Rumänien, auf dem wir uns zwischen verschiedenen Orten wählen mussten, haben wir in der Versammlung entschieden, die nächste Begegnung in Italien zu organisieren. Reclaim the fields war bislang noch nie in Italien präsent. Es könnte daher eine gute Gelegenheit sein, dort andere Menschen zu treffen, die die Zielsetzungen von RTF teilen.
Außerdem haben in Rosia Montana Viele den Wunsch geäußert, die Aktivitäten von RTF mit den aktuellen Kämpfen gegen Großprojekte wie Flughäfen, Bergwerke, Gaspipelines.... zu verbinden.
In der Nähe von Turin findet schon seit langem intensive, von der Mehrheit der lokalen Bevölkerung getragene Kämpfe gegen den Ausbau einer Eisenbahnstrecke zu einer Hochgeschwindigkeitslinie, die die Alpen durchquert und Turin mit Lyon verbindet, die NO TAV- Bewegung im Susa-Tal.

Ort des Geschehens ist der ‘Mescal Squat’! Das Gebàude war ein Teil der ehemaligen psychatrischen Einrichtung von Collegno, im « Parco della Certosa Reale « , in der Gegend von Turin (Richtung Valle di Susa). Das Haus wurde 2006 von Anarchisten besetzt, die aus der Squatter-Szene Turins kommen. Es wurde ein Freiraum für politische und verschiedene kreative Aktivitàten geschaffen, in dem eine Alternative zum ganz normalen « in-den-tag-leben « und fuer ein selbstbestimmtes Leben ermòglicht wurde. D.I.Y. ! Die Gruppe verwandelte das alte « Irrenhaus » aus dem Nichts heraus in einen Ort, wo Platz fuer Workshops, Glas- und Holzwerkstàtten, einen Fitnessraum, einen Proberaum, nen Konzertraum und Raeume fuer andere soziale Projekte geschaffen wurde. Zum Beispiel braucht der neue Steinofen fuer Brot und der Kollektiv-Garten lediglich ein wenig frische Energie, um Fruechte zu tragen. Bei allen Aktivitàten in Mezcal wird versucht, kommerzielle Gewohnheiten abzuschaffen, indem alles geteilt wird. Eine Sache ist z.b. die Mittwochs-Vokue, die « bellavita »heisst, wo jeder was zum Essen beitràgt.

Das Treffen wird organisiert von Leuten aus Turin und Umgebung ( vielleicht auch aus anderen Städten ), unterstützt von dem Kollektiv ´Nautilus´, das seit 30 Jahren verbunden ist mit der Besetzer_innen-Scene und ´non-profit- Produktionen´ ( vor allem Bücher ohne copyright ), selbstorganisiertes Leben jenseits von Markt und Staat fördernd.
In diesen 10 Tagen wollen wir versuchen für die von außerhalb kommenden Genoss_innen eine möglichst angenehme Situation zu schaffen, für warme Betten und Verpflegung zu sorgen.Die Teinehmer_innen sind eingeladen nach ihren Möglichkeiten dazu beizutragen. Im Interesse einer optimalen Vorbereitung ist es für uns wichtig zu wissen, wie viel Personen kommen werden und wie lange sie bleiben wollen ( ob sie beispielsweise zur Initiative ´Reclaim the seeds´ kommen oder für die Tage danach ) und ob sie besondere Bedürfnisse und Wünsche haben.

Wir wollen unterschiedliche Gruppen und Individuen zu einem Austausch von Saatgut einladen, der jedes Jahr im ´Mezcal´ organisiert wird ( und dieses Jahr am letzten Februar-Wochenende stattfinden wird ) sowie zu weiteren Veranstaltungen: eine Gelegenheit, um Erfahrungen und Ideen auszutauschen und Begegnungen zwischen denjenigen zu ermöglichen, die von der Stadt aufs Land gezogen sind, um dort subsistenzorientiert zu produzieren und zu leben und den Stadtgärtner_innen, die in den letzten Jahren kollektive Gärten hier in Turin entstehen ließen.

Und wir wollen, wie schon oben erwähnt, Reclaim the fields im Susa-Tal vorstellen: wir wollen in jedem Fall eine abendliche Veranstaltung dort im Tal mit der NO TAV Bewegung organisieren
( uns von den verschiedenen Kämpfen erzählend und und unsere Erfahrungen austauschend ); über die Vorstellung von RTF können wir uns im einzelnen während des Treffens verständigen.
Es ist sehr schwierig, wenn nicht unmöglich, den Kampf der NO TAV Bewegung, seine Geschichte und die aktuelle Situation zu beschreiben und leider gibt es auch kaum Texte dazu in anderen Sprachen. Sicher ist aber, dass dieser Kampf sich gegenwärtig in einer entscheidenden Phase befindet: nach über 20 Jahre andauernden Kämpfen, die den Baubeginn verhindern konnten ( und sogar die vorbereitenden Arbeiten haben noch nicht einmal begonnen ) hat der Staat mittels des Einsatzes von Spezialeinheiten der Polizei und des Militärs einen Teil des Tals besetzt, in dem die Arbeiten an dem Tunnel durch die Alpen ( über eine Strecke von über 50 km ) nun beginnen sollen. Es ist daher durchaus möglich, dass es während des Treffens von Reclaim the fields zu einer finalen Zuspitzung der Kämpfe kommen wird.

Petite présentation de la rencontre de Turin

Après le dernier camp en Roumanie, parmi deux choix, l’assemblée a décidé d’organiser notre prochaine rencontre en Italie. Reclaim the Fields n’ayant jamais débarqué en Italie, cela devrait constituer une excellente opportunité de rencontre pour des personnes partageant les intérêts de la constellation; de plus, plusieurs personnes ont exprimé le désir - à Rosia Montana - de lier les activités de RTF à quelques-unes des luttes en cours contre de grands projets tels aéroports, mines, gazoducs... Près de Turin, le mouvement NO TAV de la Val Susa mène une lutte active, forte et bien enracinée contre la construction d’une ligne de chemin de fer qui devrait traverser les Alpes et relier Turin et Lyon.

Le lieu du rassemblement est le squatt Mezcal. Cet immeuble faisait parti d’un ex-Hôpital Psychiatrique de Collegno, à l’intérieur du Parc de la Certosa Reale, aux alentours de la ville de Turin et dans la même direction que Valle di Susa. L’ immeuble est occupé depuis 2006 par des anarchistes qui ont grandi dans le milieu Squatt à Turin. Leurs but était de créer un espace libertaire avec plusieurs activités politiques créatives et ludiques en améliorant leur mode de vie par la pratique de l’auto-gestion et de l’auto-construction. Ce groupe a transformé la structure de cet hôpital en ateliers tels des laboratoires de verre et de bois, un gymnase, une salle de répétition une salle de concert et autres espaces sociaux. Par exemple, le nouveau four à pain et le nouveau jardin collectif, qui ont été ouvert, ne demandent que peu d’énergie pour devenir productifs. Pendant les activités organisées au Mezcal, nous essayons d’éliminer le besoin et l’utilisation d’argent par la solidarité. Une de ces initiatives est le dîner du mercredi appelé bellavita, ou chacun apporte quelque chose à partager avec les autres pour rendre le dîner possible.

L’assemblée RTF sera organisée par des gens de Turin et des personnes venant des campagnes et montagnes alentour (ou même d’autres villes), avec l’aide de Nautilus, un collectif qui, depuis 30 ans, occupe le devant de la scène des occupations et des autoproductions (entre autres, des livres sans droits d’auteur) et soutient et crée l’autogestion en dehors et contre l’Etat et l’économie. Pendant ces dix jours, nous tâcherons de créer une situation confortable pour les copains et les copines qui arriveront de loin, et garantissons la nourriture et des places où dormir au chaud; par la même occasion, nous invitons les participants à contribuer comme ils le peuvent. Pour une meilleure organisation, il faudra nous communiquer le nombre de personnes qui comptent venir, et la durée de leur séjour (s’ils viennent pour l’initiative Reclaim the Seeds ou bien la semaine suivante), et s’ils ont des désirs ou des exigences particulières.

De notre côté, nous vous proposons de prendre contact avec différents individus et situations parmi celles que nous connaissons, pour les inviter à l’Echange de semences qui a lieu chaque année au Mezcal (en 2012 elle aura lieu le dernier fin de semaine de février) et aux autres initiatives que nous organiserons. Ce sera une occasion d’échanger expériences et idées, de faire croiser les parcours de ceux qui ont choisi d’abandonner les villes et tendent à l’auto-suffisance et les jardiniers des villes qui ont développé, dans les dernières années des potagers collectifs, ici à Turin.

Pour finir, comme nous le disions plus haut, nous “introduirons” RTF dans la Val Susa: nous pourrons certainement organiser une soirée dans la vallée pour rencontrer le mouvement NO TAV, alors que le reste sera décidé sur place par l’assemblée. Tenter de décrire cette lutte, son histoire et la situation actuelle est difficile, sinon impossible, et malheureusement il n’y a pas beaucoup de matériel traduit en d’autres langues. Ce qui peut être dit est que nous sommes actuellement dans une phase cruciale: après vingt ans de luttes qui ont empêché que les travaux soient commencés (à vrai dire, mêmes les travaux préliminaires de sondage doivent encore être entrepris), l’Etat, à l’aide d’unités de police antiémeute et de l’armée, a conquis un petit bout de vallée où les travaux pour le tunnel sous les Alpes (de plus de 50 km de long) devraient commencer. Il est donc possible que pendant la rencontre de RTF, la situation devienne chaude.

Breve presentación del encuentro de Torino

Al final del último campamento en Rumania, debiendo elegir entre un par de propuestas, la asamblea decidió organizar el encuentro sucesivo en Italia. Reclaim the Fields no se había realizado nunca en Italia, por lo cual podría ser una óptima oportunidad para encontrar a otras personas que compartan los mismos intereses del grupo; además de Rosia Montana muchas otras personas han expresado el deseo de conectar las actividades de RtF a algunas de las luchas en corso, contra grandes proyectos como: aeropuertos, minas, conductos del gas… Cerca de Torino existe una resistencia, fuerte y bien organizada, contra la construcción de una línea ferroviaria de alta velocidad que debería atravesar los Alpes y conectar Torino a Lyon, el movimiento NOTAV de Val Susa.

El lugar de la iniciativa es el Mezcal Squat. El edificio era parte del complejo de los Hospitales Psiquiátricos de Collegno, en el Parque de la Certosa Reale, en la periferia de Torino, dirección Val Susa. El edificio se okupó en 2006, por un grupo de personas del entorno anarkista que a madurado su practica en las okupaciónes de Torino. Sus objetivos eran de crear un espacio liberado con muchos tipos de actividades creativas, lúdicas y políticas, revolucionando su propia vida cotidiana a través de la practica de la auto-gestión y de la auto-construcción. El grupo a transformado así la estructura del hospital
auto-construyendo, desde cero, ambientes creativos liberados como: talleres de metal, vidrio y madera, un gimnasio, una sala de ensayo y una sala de conciertos además de otros espacios sociales. Por ejemplo, hemos construido un horno de leña para el pan y acabamos de inaugurar una huerta colectiva que solo necesita un poco de energía para que sea fructífera. En las actividades organizadas intentamos experimentar la eliminación del dinero a través del compartir. Una de estas iniciativas es el cenador “bellavita” del miércoles en el cual cada unx aporta algo para realizar el cenador.

La asamblea será organizada por algunas personas de Torino y otras que provienen de los campos y las montañas que la circundan (posiblemente también de otras ciudades), con la ayuda de Nautilus, un colectivo que desde hace 30 años gravita alrededor de las escenas de las ocupaciones y auto-producciones (sobre todo libros sin copyright, pero no solo eso), sosteniendo y creando auto-organización de los grupos; fuera y contra el estado y la economía. Durante estos diez días trataremos de crear una situación confortante para los compañeros y compañeras que vendrán de lejos, garantizándoles techo y comida; al mismo tiempo invitamos a los participantes a colaborar en medida de sus posibilidades. Para una mayor organización, es importante comunicarnos el número de personas que piensan venir, el tiempo que se quedarán con nosotros (por ejemplo, si vienen para iniciativa de Reclaim the Seeds o la semana siguiente) y si tienen necesidades y exigencias particulares.

Nuestra idea es contactar a diferentes personas y situaciones, dentro de aquellas que conocemos, invitando al Intercambio de Semillas, que viene organizado cada año al Mezcal (este año lo celebraremos el último fin de semana de febrero) y a las otras iniciativas que organizaremos. Será la ocasión para intercambiar experiencias e ideas, para encontrar caminos entre aquellos que han decidido dejar la ciudad buscando producir con el objetivo de la auto-suficiencia y los horticultores urbanos que en estos últimos años han cuidado de algunos de los huertos colectivos en Torino.

Para finalizar, como mencionamos al principio, “introduciremos” RtF en Val Susa: seguramente organizaremos una noche en el valle para encontrar al movimiento NO TAV, mientras el resto se decidirá en el lugar de la asamblea. Buscar de describir esta resistencia, su historia y la situación actual, es difícil si no imposible, y por desgracia no existe mucho material traducido en otras lenguas. Aquello que podemos decir es que nos encontramos en una etapa crucial: después de veinte años de resistencia que han impedido el inicio de los trabajos (a decir verdad, ni siquiera los trabajos preliminares de sondaje han comenzado) el estado, con la ayuda de la policía y del ejercito, ha conquistado un pequeño pedazo de valle en el cual deberían de comenzar los trabajos para el túnel debajo de los Alpes (largo más de 50 km), por lo que es posible que durante el encuentro del RtF la situación sea bastante caliente.
